breathtaking view of the cascading rice fields at Sa Pa Mountains

all aBOUt FooD in HaNOI, VietNAM

and of course the infamous "PHO" pronounced as "fur" in a deep low toned sound. A Vietnamese noodle soup usually served with beef or chicken with lots of basil, mint leaves, bean sprouts, lemon grass, cilantro, fish sauce and I'm sure a lot more stuff...  I like to squeeze in more lemon to make it a bit sourish sweet taste. The soup includes noodles made from rice.

of course the FRENCH BAGUETTE ...crusty outside and soft inside.... delicious with ham and foie gras !
Toasted in a small oven toaster with charcoal fire...amazingly this little small contraption can even cope with a lunch crowd !!

Street food....

some sort of desserts...deep fried..sweet and chewy.

A "ONE MENU RESTAURANT" -  famous Vietnamese Seafood along Cau Go street...
somewhere along Hang Gao Street, supper time noodle soup....again!

CRAB STICK SPRING ROLLS.. we ordered the D.I.Y.

After walking around Old Quarters, we found this "little french Hanoi" and a little shop selling very tasty pork soup rice noodles... We had extra bowl of just pork ball soup!

YUMMY ...YUMMY... fresh oysters ..miscalculated in US$ . Turned out to be quite pricey!

..."BANH CUON NONG " .....And our favorite lady at mid night....she sells tasty super thin FLAT rice noodles filled with mushrooms and served with basil and bean sprouts... every night as walk back to our Hotel in Hanoi, we would stop by for supper along Hang Be Street.

waiting for my SUPER CRISPY SPRING ROLLS.....its so super crispy, we had to have two serves each !!! this sidewalk stall is just behind "THE CATHEDRAL" (dont ask me the name of the street! )

QUAN AN NGON, No 18 Phan Boi Chau.... Good food, convenient - everything under one roof....the highlight is the crab spring rolls....

and of course the art of FRENCH FOOD...

AT THE GREEN TANGERINE ..( Hang Be Street, Hanoi ) highly recommended. Must go!

...the starter is the amazing beautifully designed "chequered board " fresh scallops, beetroot, pineapple, cherries, etc etc..with pasta

and main is the medium done Rib Eye Steak (Australian)

the DUCK CONFIT (medium rare) accompanied with asparagus, cherries etc etc
The BEST PART IS THE PLATES ARE WARM !!

and of course not forgetting the PLACE !!!!! BEAUTIFUL old pre war house 1928  and very well preserved by the local owner.... (Local Vietnamese owner and chef too )

even created the ambience of a typical french street scene within the cafe.....

looking thru the iron rod glass door from the inside of the cafe.
wall mural along one side of the cafe ...
